American Gods

Is America becoming less religious? Many would say so. Some might even say that we are moving from primitive, outdated beliefs about God and the Bible into a more enlightened worldview based on science and reason. But what if America isn’t becoming less religious? What if, instead, we are actually turning to different gods? The Bible tells us that everyone is a worshipper. It is not a matter of if we worship, but who or what we worship. Whether the “god” is a person, object, or idea, there is something in our lives to which we give our ultimate love and devotion. It could be money, sex, or even ourselves. Whatever its form, it drives us and gives us meaning. But worshipping these gods comes at a great cost. We invite you to join us as we look at some of the most popular American gods and how the God of the Bible confronts them in Jesus.
